An Alert to Writers in PI

To all aspiring writers in the Philippines, the truth of the matter is, those writing jobs posted in Craigslist pays peanuts. I mean, they are paying way lower than what a writer can actually by submitting articles to local magazines. This has been my complain before that is why I don’t accept writing jobs.

To all those looking for writers, be guided that Writing is a special skill and takes a lot of talent, not everybody can write, therefore it doesn’t come cheap either.

I once wrote a paper for a nursing post-grad in California and it got her an A! But did she pay me? Nope, she didn’t, must have thought that it was easy, and to think that I am not a medical graduate and I was only able to finish college and not graduate school.

Check one of the alerts by a fellow writer posted at

http://manila.craigslist.com.ph/wri/657481467.html

Another writing agency posted a job offer that pays P8,000 monthly to homebased writers. It seemed OK when you look at it. But a closer examination reveal that the ad was designed to fool writers again.

It pays P8000 a month. Since there are 30 days in a month, that means
8000 divided by 30 = P266

You will be given P266 a day. Bun without your knowing it, you will be required to complete 3 to 4 articles in a day.

That means you divide P266 into four articles and you get P66.50. In other words, this job poster will trick you into believing that you are getting a good offer when in fact,it’s deception in disguise.

You will be paid P66.50 for each 500-word article. Can you believe that?

Many methods of trickery are being used by these shameless posters just to deceive us writers into accepting such deplorable fee.If you were deceived into applying for these writing agencies, please reconsider. Let’s prove them once and for all that their long years of exploitation agains the writers are over.If they will not give us competitive rates which is around P350 per 500-word article, ignore their posts.

My fellow writers, always be vigilant.

http://manila.craigslist.com.ph/wri/641226259.html

This poster requires 5 posts a day and he promises P6,000 a month.

That means 150 articles a month.

If you compute the pay per article offer, it only amounts to P40 per article.

That’s right.

P40/article.

Can you believe that?

This job poster attempts to take advantage of writers.

Just an alert for all Philippine writers out there.

  1. Thank you for the moral support you give to the aggrieved writers by posting the writer’s alert in your site. I warmly welcome you to the group. Let’s help each other by exercising vigilance against these job posters that only exploits us. If you see any writing job posts that pay $2-$3 per article at craigslist, flag it immediately.
And it would be good if you can post your own version of ” writer’s alert” against that particular job post that you flag down.
Once again, thank you very much for your support!

  2. Of course I am in full support of writers, I want to be a writer and write, but I don’t want to be exploited. If people want to use my talent to make money, then they have to pay me accordingly too.

So good luck to all writers far and near and be cautious that your talentis not being exploited.

    Thank you.

  3. I agree.

And now that you’ve mentioned craigslist alert, I make a confession.

I was the one who made all those alerts.
And oh boy, what an experience! My email was flooded with hate letters and threats from mad employers, ha-ha!

I answered each of them. I told them that threats are the cowardly resort of emotionally unbalanced persons. I dared them to make good their threat of killing me. After all, my mother remains the beneficiary of my life insurance!

  4. hate letters? why would the employers sent hate letters? because they have been exposed?? hahahahaha….truly a lot of people are amazing, they get mad when exposed.

thank you for the information I will surely post the prices.

I like writing actually, my dream was to be a writer, but with the prices people are offering, any writer will starve before they can write anything.

I don’t expect people who outsource writing tasks to pay the same price as that in their own country, but at least I expect a reasonable price. The problem is a lot of the prices they are offering are less than the actual writing rate here in our own country, which really disgusts me!
