Funny Requirements at Craigslist

For five years I have been conscientiously following job ads posted at Craigslist. In fact I can say I got most of my projects from Craigslist, and also all of my scam experiences are from Craigslist ads too.

From the way I see it, there were more good companies posting before compared to the present. The present crowd posting at Craigslist are kind of blurry in their requirements for online workers. Here’s a couple of funny and outrageous requirements:

Article Writer needed:

Must have error-free english ( this is an outrageous requirement. I’d like to see a non-English native speaker coming up with error free English. I mean even Shakespeare was found to have grammatical error, so what makes the modern thinkers think that they can find a writer with error-free english in a country that is a non-native English speaking one, and one who comes cheap as well?? confused0006 )

The Ability to write 5-10 articles a day ( I’d like to find if Shakespeare or the other great writers were able to do this during their prime  confused0006)

Web Design Talent Needed Immediately – Requirements:

Website research

Keyword Research

User Login Sign ups for Multiple Social Networks

Daily Article Submission using Software

Social Bookmarking Website Pages

Run Report From Analytics, adwords etc.

Blogging

Yahoo answers

Craigslist Posting

( confused0053 wheww! Actually the job position should be separted, the Website developer could be the one to do the analytics and adwords and page linking. A web assistant would be the one to the other task. You cannot ask your web developer to do Craigslist posting!….Web developers usually ask for a higher pay rate than regular online staff because theirs is a different set of skills. Research and the other tasks are of a different skills also. )

Full time position for a Customer Service Adminstrator / Webmaster. ( This one beats them all, in chinese there is a term – being a manager at the same time being the janitor.  I don’t know if the Company here is looking for a webmaster or web mistress, accountant, virtual assistant or website content writer. )

Daily job tasks will involve the following:
- Improving, Updating and Running several websites.
- Handling the accounting and inventory management and customer service aspects the websites e-com portions.
- Handling basic office accounting and basic office administration.
- When not working on website related activity, assist the business leader with other important business needs and projects.

Job Requirements:
1 Professional and responsible. 3 or more years employment desired. 4 year college degree preferred.
2 Experience with basic business processes such as purchasing, invoicing, basic accounting
3 Experienced in overall website management. Familiar with basic html, php, mysql, etc. Strong understanding of costs of outsourcing programing, hosting, etc.
4 Experience with whitehat SEO techniques, ability to create and develop new topic rich content for the website.
5 Strong written English required. Good spoken English a strong plus.
6 Working knowledge of Perl would be desirable.

There’s more from where it came from. Check your Craigslist ads to day.

My New Affiliate – Affairsinorder.com

I just signed up for the affiliate program of www.affairsinorder.com. Why? because I really believe in the product.

Nowadays, death is just a second away, you’ll never know when you get hit by a car, or a sudden disease may take you to meet your creator, or a continuous intake of medication may just render you in a comatose stage. So I think that everyone should put their Affairs in Order to prepare for the unexpected. One thing that is so sad to see is having our children or relatives fighting over our assets or estate. It’s so sad that nobody is fighting on who’s going to pay our leftover “debts” lol.

Famous celebrities like Heath Ledger and Anna Nicole Smith are fine examples. They were young so whoever would have thought that their life would end so tragically? But then age is not an issue with death.

Therefore in order to secure our children’s future, and to make sure our affairs are well taken cared off when we’re gone, we have to make sure they are well taken cared of while we are yet alive.

So do check this site and get your affairs in order now.

Dream or Reality Update

If you have read my post titled Dream or Reality, here’s a follow up.

A week after I have posted my post, the prospective client called again. He apologized for the three weeks of absence cause there was a family emergency that needs his immediate attention. He told me that he would like to start training one of my staff for inbound calls. So everything was set for the training.

The next day which was the day of the training, he was again missing in action. We called but got his voicemail. I emailed but no reply. I left messages on his yahoo IM but no reply too.

It’s been more than three weeks again and we haven’t heard from him. We have given up on him and has moved on with other clients.

Therefore, in conclusion, what we had wasn’t a dream, it was a reality. But the reality of it was, we met an inconsiderate prospective client!

Dream or Reality?

Last January 26, 2008 I had the opportunity to speak with a potential very nice client. Everything went well with our talk, and the price rate was very reasonable. He was looking to hire one of my call center agent. So on January 28, 2008, we had another round of call and this time he was able to talk to his assigned agent, did a little interview with her and welcomed her on board. After that, we talked again and he informed me that he will start training her on Wednesday, which is January 3o so that she can start working Feb. 4, 2008.

A weird thing happened after that, we didn’t hear from him. We called him up, and got his voicemail, I sent him numerous emails and got no reply, which is very unlike him. Up to this moment, I am still trying to contact him.

Did something happen to him? I wonder….maybe he met an accident? Because it is impossible for him not to be in touch. Maybe he changed his mind about using our services? I don’t think so, because he told me he need seven people and I provided one of the seven call center agents. If he doesn’t want to use our services, he would have said something.

Out conversation and email exchange couldn’t be just a dream for me cause my agent was able to talk to him too. What do you think happened to him??
